As the Department of Biology, we aim to equip our students with up-to-date knowledge and skills in the biological sciences, ensure they understand the fundamental principles of life, and cultivate qualified individuals who are sensitive to environmental issues, committed to scientific and ethical values, and capable of contributing to scientific research.

History of the department
Our department began its educational activities in the 1993-1994 academic year by accepting its first students.
The department has 12 faculty members, including 9 professors, 1 associate professor, and 2 assistant professors, all of whom are experienced in their fields, as well as 1 research assistant.
The department offers courses in Botany, General Biology, Hydrobiology, Molecular Biology, and Zoology. The department's goal is to educate students who understand the importance of biology, possess contemporary scientific thinking, and can produce solutions to biological problems. Our teaching staff has sufficient knowledge and experience to serve this purpose. In addition to student laboratories, our building at the Çağış campus houses research laboratories for Herbarium, Ecology, Physiology, Hydrobiology, Microbiology, and Zoology.
